MGS4 finally comes back… but some physical releases stink
Konami just confirmed Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2 will hit on August 27, 2026. The announcement dropped as part of PlayStation’s State of Play.
Included in the collection:
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (long stuck on PS3)
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version)
- Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (bonus content)
- Digital bonuses like a soundtrack and scenario/master books for each game
MGS4 finally escaping the PS3 is the big headline here, it’s basically the most requested re-release in the series.
Here’s the messy part: while the PS5 and Xbox versions look like real physical discs, both Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2 versions are being marketed with physical boxes that are basically download keys.
So yeah… you might not actually get the games on cart. That’s trash for anyone who cares about real physical ownership.
