WingMan Interceptor

Logitech · 1999 · PC Joystick
A molded, drift-free flight stick that feels built for dogfights, if your left hand stays idle.

POCG VERDICT
The flight sim controller to beat, if you're right-handed and don't need rudder pedals.
Logitech's WingMan Interceptor pairs a molded grip, nine buttons, and three hat switches with flawless magnetic tracking. It shines in flight sims and racing, but stumbles with mech titles like Heavy Gear.
About This Hardware

The WingMan Interceptor is a USB PC joystick from Logitech, aimed squarely at the serious flight sim and racing enthusiast. It retails for $59.95 and ships with a one-year limited warranty. Logitech markets it as an "unfair advantage" with a right-handed molded shaft, nine rubberized buttons (four on the base, five on the shaft including a unique two-way trigger toggle), and three eight-way hat switches, more than most sticks on the market. A radial throttle sits to the left of the shaft. The stick uses Logitech's Net-2 magnetic encoding technology, which promises drift-free operation. Installation under Windows 98 is plug-and-play; the included WingMan Profiler software lets you map up to 33 functions and download pre-made game profiles from Logitech's website. Two full games are bundled: F-22 ADF and Warbirds 2.01.

Notes & Warnings
The molded grip is strictly right-handed; lefties need not apply. No rudder pedal port is included. The packed-in manual is nearly useless in English: use the on-screen help or Logitech's website for setup guidance.
Editor's Note
Restored from the POCG archive and rewritten in the Maniac voice. The original source did not provide a numeric score; a score of 4.0 (Excellent) was estimated from the review text.
