The Canopus Witchdoctor is an AGP 2D/3D accelerator based on the NVIDIA RIVA 128 chipset with 4 MB of memory. Released in 1998, it combines a full 2D display adapter with 3D acceleration, eliminating the need for a separate 2D card. It includes standard VGA output, plus RCA composite and S-Video ports for TV-out. Its standout feature is an internal passthrough connector that works with any Voodoo2 card, including those from other manufacturers, allowing the Voodoo2's 3D output to be routed through the Witchdoctor and displayed on a monitor without the typical 2D degradation, while also passing the Voodoo2 signal to the TV outputs. At its $139.95 MSRP, it undercut dedicated 3D accelerators and offered a unique upgrade path for gamers who wanted both solid 2D and the option to add Voodoo2 power later.
