Street Fighter III: Third Strike
Street Fighter III: Third Strike is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Capcom. Originally released in arcades in 1999, it was ported to the Sega Dreamcast in 2000, and later appeared on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and a variety of modern platforms through collections and digital rereleases. It is the third and final iteration of the Street Fighter III series, following Street Fighter III: New Generation and Street Fighter III: Second Impact. The game retains the core mechanics of its predecessors: players select a character and engage in one-on-one battles using normal and special moves, throws, and Super Arts, powerful cinematic attacks governed by a Super Meter. Third Strike introduces a refined parry system that allows skilled players to deflect incoming attacks with precise timing, adding a layer of high-level strategy. The roster includes returning characters like Ryu, Ken, and Akuma, alongside newcomers such as Makoto, Remy, Hugo, and the enigmatic Q. The game also marks the return of Chun-Li, absent from the previous Street Fighter III entries. Each fighter has a selection of three Super Arts, chosen before a match, with varying properties that encourage distinct playstyles. Critically celebrated for its fluid animation and deep gameplay, Street Fighter III: Third Strike is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighting games of all time. Its unique hip-hop influenced soundtrack, composed by Capcom's in-house team, sets it apart from other entries in the series and contributes to its enduring cult status.
