POCG VERDICT
Beautiful, broken, and screaming with potential.
Star Wars Battlefront brings the movies' battles to life with stunning visuals and faithful content, but the multiplayer is crippled by a locked frame rate that turns every match into a slideshow.
About This Game

Star Wars Battlefront is a 2004 first-person/third-person shooter developed by Pandemic Studios and published by LucasArts. The game adapts the large-scale Battlefield-style combat to the Star Wars universe, allowing players to relive iconic battles from both the original trilogy and the prequel era. Players choose from five distinct classes per faction, pilot an enormous variety of vehicles, and capture command posts to dominate the battlefield. The game features two single-player campaigns and a multiplayer mode supporting up to 64 players. Battlefront was released on Windows, PlayStation 2, and Xbox, and was acclaimed for its stunning visuals, authentic Star Wars atmosphere, and generous vehicle roster, though it drew criticism for netcode issues and spotty AI.

How to Play TodayYour options for running this game in 2026
Original Hardware
The Windows CD-ROM version is the original release. Find it on eBay or in used game shops; a valid CD key is required to install and play. Runs on Windows 2000 or XP with a DirectX 9-class graphics card.
Emulation / Other Options
No emulation needed; the game runs natively on Windows. The single-player campaigns are fully playable. Multiplayer remains hobbled by the infamous frame-rate lock unless you join a high-tick-rate LAN server.
