POCG VERDICT
The kids' puzzle game that's genuinely relaxing for adults, too. Dust-balls and all.
A charming Tetris-like puzzle where you stack toys and sweep dust-balls. Perfect for ages 4-7, but also a weirdly soothing 10-minute break for grownups. Just turn off the kiddie MIDI music.
About This Game

Toybox is a children's puzzle video game developed and published by Dyno Tech Software in 1998 for IBM PC compatibles running Windows 3.1x or Windows 95/98. The gameplay is similar to Tetris: colored toys (pencils, balls, dinosaurs) fall from the top of the screen, and the player must stack them onto matching colored toyboxes at the bottom. When four identical toys are stacked vertically, the column disappears; when all toyboxes on a level are eliminated, the stage is cleared. A unique mechanic involves dust-balls, which can only be removed by a broom that appears randomly among the falling objects. Some objects start embedded in the playfield, requiring spatial planning to clear. The game features bright, primary-colored graphics and simple MIDI music aimed at young children. A sound card is optional but enhances the playful sound effects. Toybox includes a straightforward Windows menu for choosing controls and toggling music, but notably lacks a proper uninstaller. The game received positive reviews for its accessible design and appeal to children aged 4-7, with some reviewers also recommending it as a brief stress-reliever for adults.
