About This Game

Jet Set Radio is an upcoming action game from Sega, announced as part of the company's wave of revived classic franchises. It is a new entry in the Jet Set Radio series, which began with the 2000 Dreamcast title (released as Jet Grind Radio in North America) and continued with Jet Set Radio Future on the Xbox in 2002. The original games followed rival gangs of inline-skating graffiti writers tagging a stylised Tokyo while evading police, and were among the earliest high-profile uses of cel-shaded graphics, paired with an eclectic soundtrack led by composer Hideki Naganuma.

Sega has stated that the original creators of the series are returning for the new game. Rather than recreating the bounded, score-attack stage structure of the originals, the revival is described as an open-world game set in Tokyo, built around a "counter-culture" theme in which the player joins and grows a rebellion movement, recruits crew members, and builds a following across the city. It was revealed alongside new entries in other Sega series including Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage.

As of mid-2026 the game has been confirmed to still be in active development, but Sega has not announced a final title, release date, or target platforms. The revival is widely regarded as one of the most anticipated of Sega's announced comebacks, owing to the original's enduring cult status and its influence on the visual style of later games.
