Space Cyclone and Legend of Kage NES Join Arcade/Console Archives on June 18

Hamster's Arcade Archives adds Space Cyclone (1980) and Console Archives adds Legend of Kage (NES) to Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on June 18, priced from $7.99.

Hamster has announced two classic Taito releases arriving on modern platforms this week. The arcade original Space Cyclone (1980), the often-forgotten planetary follow-up to Space Invaders, hits Arcade Archives on Switch and PS4 and Arcade Archives 2 on Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on June 18. The Nintendo Famicom/NES port of the hack-and-slash platformer Legend of Kage also arrives the same day as a $7.99 Console Archives release for Switch 2 and PS5.

Space Cyclone comes priced at $7.99 for the standard Arcade Archives version and $9.99 for the Arcade Archives 2 edition, with a $2.99 upgrade path from last-gen to current-gen. Legend of Kage, originally an arcade game from 1985 and ported to the Famicom in 1986, puts the ninja Kage on a rescue mission through demon-infested territory. The NES version has been absent from modern digital storefronts, so its appearance in Console Archives is a welcome gap-fill.

The Arcade Archives series continues to be one of the quiet preservation workhorses of the current generation. Space Cyclone sat almost entirely absent from home releases outside the Space Invaders Invincible Collection, and Legend of Kage’s last console outing was the Virtual Console era. Giving these deep cuts a permanent, emulated home with rewind, save states, and online leaderboards is exactly the sort of incremental preservation that adds up.
