Metro Siege

A brand-new Final Fight-style brawler shipping on real Neo Geo carts and Amiga floppies in 2026.
Neo GeoPCBeat 'em Up

Metro Siege is a new 16-bit cooperative beat 'em up developed by BitBeamCannon, built in the tradition of Final Fight and Streets of Rage and targeting classic hardware alongside modern PCs. It is being made for the Commodore Amiga, the Neo Geo (AES and MVS), and PC via Steam and Itch.io, an unusual and deliberately retro spread of platforms for a game developed in the 2020s.

The game is a side-scrolling brawler for one or two players, leaning on the genre staples of the late 1980s and early 1990s: walking right, hitting enemies, and clearing the screen, rendered in handcrafted 16-bit pixel art and animation. BitBeamCannon, a studio known for its deep interest in authentic retro development and pixel-art tutorials, has positioned Metro Siege as a brawler that aims to feel different at its core rather than simply imitating its inspirations.

Metro Siege is notable for committing to genuine physical releases on vintage formats. Backers can pledge for Amiga editions on CD or floppy disk and for the Neo Geo on physical MVS or AES cartridges, the same cartridge formats SNK shipped on decades ago, complete with collectible extras such as cards, sticker sheets, pin badges, and posters.

The project was funded via Kickstarter in 2026, comfortably surpassing its goal, with the Amiga build slated to be completed first and the PC and Neo Geo editions following as fully playable releases. It stands as a marker of how healthy the original-hardware homebrew scene remains, with brand-new games still being made for systems first sold in the 1980s and 1990s.
