Sold by Valve at 1,049 dollars for the 512GB model and 1,349 dollars for the 2TB, both without a controller; the 2TB with a Steam Controller is 1,428 dollars. Preorder access is being granted by a lottery to people who registered interest and made a Steam purchase before April 27, limited to one per household.
Notes & Warnings
This is a current product, not retro hardware, logged here because it is a notable preservation-adjacent platform: an open SteamOS PC built for the TV. The price is the sticking point. At 1,049 dollars before a controller it is a hard sell against a self-built mini PC or a Steam Deck, and the launch supply is gated behind a preorder lottery. Announced in November 2025 alongside the new Steam Controller and the Steam Frame VR headset.
