South Park Rally in Development at Tantalus for PC and Consoles

Tantalus Interactive is developing South Park Rally, the second South Park game, for PC, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Dreamcast.

South Park is getting a racing game. Australian studio Tantalus Interactive announced it has secured the contract to develop South Park Rally, the second game based on the show, after wrapping up negotiations at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. Work quietly started back in January, and the studio says it will show progress and a look inside production as development rolls on.

The game is coming to PC, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Dreamcast, a spread Tantalus calls the biggest project an independent Australian developer has taken on to date. Show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are contributing to the design, so the jokes should at least come from the source instead of a licensing checklist.

Beyond Tantalus describing it as an action-heavy racer, details are thin. A South Park racing game sells itself on premise alone; whether it actually drives well is the part worth watching.
