Blue Byte Closes UK Office, Centralizes European Operations in Germany

Blue Byte will centralize European publishing, distribution, marketing, and support in Mulheim, Germany on July 2, closing its Northampton, England office.

Blue Byte is pulling its European operations back to Germany. As of July 2, the company will run publishing, channel distribution, marketing, and customer support for all of Europe from its head office in Mulheim an der Ruhr, closing its office in Northampton, England in the process.

CEO Thomas Hertzler says the UK office made sense when it opened in 1995, when publishing and channel distribution were fragmented and a British base handed Blue Byte direct control of a major market plus a broad set of export territories. Four years of consolidation later, he argues, accounts across Europe and the rest of the world can be serviced efficiently from one central location.
