Descent 3 Now on Store Shelves for Windows

Interplay's Descent 3 is at retail for Windows 95/98/NT, adding open-atmosphere flight, ten new weapons, and a $50,000 online championship on HEAT.NET.

Descent 3 is out. Interplay started shipping the 3D shooter on Friday, June 11, and it is available at retail now for Windows 95, 98, and NT machines. Outrage Entertainment handled development on this next installment in the series that pioneered multiplayer gaming.

The big change this time: you are not stuck in the mines. Descent 3 lets you fly out into the open planetary atmosphere, soaring over the surface and taking on enemy air and ground forces before diving back underground. Ten new weapons and a new Fusion Engine round out the 360-degree action.

Launch also opens sign-ups for the semi-finals of the 1999 Descent 3 championship, with $50,000 on the line. Like the preliminary rounds, the semi-finals run exclusively online on HEAT.NET, this time on the full retail version of the game.
