Acclaim Comics Returns With Shadow Man Books Ahead of the Game

Acclaim Comics is back in the publishing business, with two books arriving in July to set the table for the Shadow Man video game landing in August. First up in early July is a 48-page Turok/Shadow Man one-shot written by Christopher Priest, with art from Mat Broome and Oscar Jimenez. Right behind it comes Shadow Man #1, the start of a new regular monthly series from writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, with art by Ryan Benjamin, Mat Broome, and Sean Parsons.

The timing is no accident. The Shadow Man game is based on the comic series, and Acclaim is backing the whole package with a multi-million dollar television and print campaign. Their pitch for the game, a third-person adventure, is Resident Evil’s horror plus Tomb Raider’s action plus Riven’s storytelling. That is a lot of big names to live up to, and I will believe it when I play it.
