Reel.com Auctions Its Last Star Wars Trilogy Tapes for Charity
Reel.com is auctioning its last out-of-print Star Wars Trilogy: Special Edition tapes June 24–29, with all proceeds going to the Starlight Children's Foundation.
Reel.com has handed its last remaining copies of the out-of-print Star Wars Trilogy: Special Edition to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and starting today it is auctioning them off online for charity. The auction runs through Tuesday, June 29, with every dollar going to Starlight, a non-profit that works to improve life for seriously ill children and their families. FairMarket is producing the auction, with America Online co-sponsoring.
One lot goes up each day of the six-day run. Each lot holds several copies of the Gold standard edition of the three-tape set plus a few of the much rarer Silver widescreen editions, with a limit of three per customer. Register, get your password by email, and bid on either edition; if someone tops you, an email notice gives you the chance to fire back. The top bidders each day win, and the final auction closes at 11:59 p.m. PST on June 29.
If you have been kicking yourself for missing these tapes, the Silver widescreen sets are the ones worth the fight.
