MechWarrior 3 Tops PC Data Chart in Its Second Week on Shelves

MechWarrior 3 topped PC Data's chart in both units and dollars for the week of June 6, selling more than 18,000 copies in its second week at retail.

MechWarrior 3 has claimed the top spot on PC Data’s weekly software chart in both units sold and dollar sales, Hasbro Interactive announced. For the week of June 6 through June 12, 1999, its second week at retail, the MicroProse mech sim moved more than 18,000 copies.

The game drops players into the cockpit of one of 18 BattleMechs in the year 3058, carrying on the BattleTech universe FASA Corporation has been building for 15 years. You can fight through a chain of campaign missions or jump into standalone battle scenarios, and finishing a mission lets you strip parts off the wrecks of defeated ‘Mechs to customize your own machine for the next fight. Giant walking tanks outselling everything else on the PC: no complaints from me.
