The physical-only Game Boy Color title ORPHEUS: TO HELL AND BACK is getting a proper digital release on Steam, set for July 13, 2026. A demo is live now if you want to test its lyre-based puzzling before buying.
Funded on Kickstarter with over €16,000 (more than double its goal), Orpheus puts you in the sandals of the mythic musician as he descends into Hades to rescue Eurydice. The game blends action and puzzle-solving with three melodies you can play on the lyre to charm, slow, or scare off enemies and spring traps. The whole thing is wrapped in a sharp 80s chibi-anime pixel style and a chiptune soundtrack that fits the hardware it was built for.
At $2.99, it’s a low-stakes way to grab a Game Boy Color oddity that would otherwise stay locked on a cartridge. Developer Studio Loading and publisher Alunite Inc. have done the work to bring it to a wider audience without messing with its retro bones.
