Retro Fighters has released the Battle Dock, a $44.95 accessory that wraps around your existing Switch 2 dock and adds four built-in GameCube controller ports. It’s on Amazon now, and independent lag testing by RetroRGB puts the input delay at 2 to 20 milliseconds, right in line with the Switch Pro controller’s typical 5 to 36 ms.

It isn’t a standalone dock. You slide your Switch 2 dock into it and connect via a USB-C to dual-USB-A cable (one for data, one for extra juice when all four ports are occupied). Two USB-A passthrough ports sit on the side, and the whole shell is dressed like a GameCube, decorative memory card slot and swappable faceplates included. It’ll also work with the original Switch, PC, Raspberry Pi, and MiSTer, showing up as an Xbox 360 pad.

For anyone who keeps original GameCube controllers in a drawer, this is a low-friction way to use them on current Nintendo hardware without adding noticeable lag. It won’t replace a wired adapter for tournament Smash, but for NSO GameCube games or casual couch multiplayer, it’s a solid buy. The fact that the same dock works on PC and MiSTer extends its usefulness well beyond the Switch 2.
