Culdcept BEGINS is a turn-based strategy game that fuses a board game with a collectible card game, released in 2026 and published in the West by Clear River Games, developed by Neos Corporation. It is the first full-fledged new entry in the Culdcept series in roughly a decade. The series began in 1997 as a creation of Omiya Soft and became a cult favorite, blending the accessibility of a dice-and-board game with the strategic depth of deckbuilding; across its life it has passed one million cumulative shipments. In Culdcept BEGINS, players roll dice to move around a board, claim and develop territories using cards, and either collect tolls from rivals who land on their spaces or seize those lands through card battles, racing to accumulate a target amount of magic power to win. The game includes roughly 400 cards, from which players build a 40-card deck, called a Book, drawn from three categories. Its story is set in a world where the goddess Culdra created the Book of Creation, whose fragments, known as Culds, are wielded by spellcasters called Cepters; it follows a young boy named Kamru who is selected to join the kingdom's Royal Cepter Guard Regiment amid a continent-threatening conflict. Culdcept BEGINS launched July 16, 2026 as a digital download on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with a Steam release planned later in the year, in English.
