Evercade Nexus

The Evercade Nexus is a cartridge-based retro gaming handheld from Blaze Entertainment, announced in March 2026 and released on October 30 of that year. It is the largest and most capable handheld in the Evercade line, which since 2020 has taken the unusual position of selling licensed retro compilations as physical cartridges rather than digital storefront listings.

The Nexus is the first Evercade handheld designed for 32-bit and 64-bit games, and accordingly the first with dual analogue sticks. Its pack-in cartridge, a Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie double pack from Rare, makes the point. Its display is a 5.89 inch 840x512 IPS panel rated at over 500 nits, the largest screen fitted to an Evercade handheld. Inside is a quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 4GB of memory, alongside Wi-Fi 6 for system updates, front-facing stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, wireless headphone support, and a 5000mAh battery the manufacturer rates at over five hours. It charges over USB-C and carries a textured rear grip.

Its headline software feature is EverSync, which lets multiple Nexus consoles connect directly to one another for local multiplayer in supported games, with no Wi-Fi network required and, per Blaze, only one cartridge needed. The console is compatible with the full Evercade library, more than 80 cartridge collections covering over 700 games spanning 8-bit through 64-bit consoles, handhelds, THEC64 and Amiga home computers, and arcade hardware.

The standard console launched at £169.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 with the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack cartridge included. Two limited variants were sold exclusively through Funstock: the Nexus 64 Edition, capped at 2,000 units at £189.99 / $229.99 / €229.99, and the Nexus DOOM Edition, capped at 3,000 units at £199.99 / €239.99 / $249.99, which bundled a DOOM-themed console with a big-box edition of The DOOM Collection cartridge, a hard shell case, comic, poster, keyring and numbered certificate of authenticity.
