Prison City Goes Physical and It’s Packing Crazy Caps

Limited Run Pre-Orders Open for PS5 and Switch

Clear some shelf space. Prison City just busted out of digital jail and is heading straight to your collection.

Retro brawling specialists Retroware have teamed up with physical preservation heroes Limited Run Games to bring PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions to life in proper disc and cartridge form.

For $34.99 you get:

  • The full game on cart or disc
  • A reversible cover
  • A real printed manual
  • Three mysterious “Crazy Caps”

That’s right. Actual pack-in goodies. It’s like 1992 again.

Prison City is pure late-era NES attitude. Inspired by Escape from New York and 8-bit cult favorites like Shatterhand and Power Blade, it drops you into a dystopian Detroit-turned-mega-prison where retired cop Hal Bruzer comes back for one last chakram-flinging cleanup job.

And this isn’t just a straight reprint. Version 1.0.4.0 is now live across all platforms, adding mid-slide jumps, slide attacks, a directional Special Attack, remixed stage layouts, new Bomber Mode variants, and a pile of tweaks and fixes.

Hard game. Chiptune soundtrack. VHS energy. Physical copy.

If your inner 90s kid just pumped a fist, this one’s probably already in your cart.
