Microids and Forever Entertainment just dropped The House of the Dead 2: Remake in a limited physical “Infect’Edition” for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and yeah, the tagline basically writes itself. It’s arcade zombies, 1998 style, now dressed up like it belongs on your shelf instead of a scratched-up rental rack.
This remake (handled by MegaPixel Studio) hauls Sega’s classic rail shooter sequel into the modern age with updated visuals and audio, plus new modes. Story-wise it’s the usual glorious B-movie sprint: two years after the first game, AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart hit Italy to investigate an epidemic, with Amy Crystal along for the ride. Expect branching paths, multiple endings, and that familiar “how many continues did you just burn?” energy.
Infect’Edition includes: the full game, a sleeve, and three holographic cards. Co-op is in, standard controller controls are in, and aiming is supposedly “optimised,” which is marketing speak for “please don’t yell at us on day one.”
