POCG VERDICT
All the bones of Civilization, none of the soul.
Warlock strips the Civilization formula to pure fantasy combat. The spell system is a genuine addition, but without diplomacy, campaign, or a tutorial, it plays like an expensive mod.
About This Game
Warlock: Master of the Arcane is a 4X turn-based strategy game developed by Ino-Co Plus and published by Paradox Interactive. Released in 2012, it is a spiritual successor to the Majesty series and draws heavily from the Civilization framework, replacing historical empire-building with fantasy combat across a procedurally generated world. Players select a warlock avatar, build cities, raise armies, and develop a spell book to wage war against rival warlocks and monsters.
