Real Robots Final Attack Gets English Translation After 20 Years
Aeon Genesis has released an English patch for Real Robots Final Attack, opening up a 1998 import PlayStation game after a translation project that dates back to 2006.
Aeon Genesis has released an English translation patch for Real Robots Final Attack, the 1998 PlayStation fighting game tied to the larger Super Robot Wars orbit.
The project has been a long time coming. Aeon Genesis says work files for the translation date back to 2006 — which makes this less a quick patch and more another example of fan translation as preservation labor. Real Robots Final Attack was never released in English, and its mix of licensed mecha properties kept it locked behind language and import barriers for most players.
For POCG, that is the story. The patch does not make the game newly commercial or official. It makes a strange, late-1990s licensed PlayStation game more readable, searchable, and playable for people who were never realistically going to experience it in Japanese.
