About This Game

LEGO City Undercover is a 2013 open-world action-adventure developed by TT Fusion (part of TT Games) and published by Nintendo, released initially as a Wii U exclusive and later ported to other platforms in 2017. Departing from the LEGO games' usual licensed properties, it is set in the original LEGO City and stars Chase McCain, a wisecracking police officer returning to the metropolis to recapture the escaped crime boss Rex Fury. The game offers a large, freely explorable city in the open-world tradition of Grand Theft Auto, but reimagined with family-friendly humour, slapstick and the series' trademark brick-based construction and destruction. Chase adopts various disguises, such as robber, miner, fireman and astronaut, each granting abilities to solve puzzles and progress, while players drive vehicles, complete missions, and hunt the abundant collectibles that pack the city. On the Wii U it made extensive use of the GamePad as an in-game communicator, scanner and map. Critically well received, it was praised for its charm, comedy, sheer scale and clever parody of cop-drama and crime-game tropes, and is often cited as one of the Wii U's standout titles. It stands among the most original and beloved entries in TT Games' LEGO catalogue. Its 2017 multi-platform re-release finally freed the well-regarded adventure from its original Wii U exclusivity.
