About This Game

NavyField 2 (subtitled Conqueror of the Ocean) is a free-to-play naval-warfare massively multiplayer game developed by SD EnterNet, the sequel to the long-running browser and client game NavyField. Announced around gamescom 2012, it brought large-scale online naval combat to a 3D engine, letting players command historically inspired warships from the World Wars, including destroyers, cruisers, battleships and aircraft carriers, in big team-based sea battles. The game emphasised fleet tactics, ship progression and crew management, with players researching and upgrading their vessels, training crews and coordinating with teammates across roles, capturing the strategic, attrition-heavy feel of capital-ship warfare. As a free-to-play title it followed the genre's familiar model of grind-based progression supported by optional premium purchases. NavyField 2 entered a niche but passionate community of naval-warfare enthusiasts, predating the later mainstream success of Wargaming's World of Warships, and it appealed to players seeking detailed, simulation-leaning fleet combat. POCG covered its announcement among its online-gaming news. As a smaller, community-focused MMO, its reach was modest compared with the genre's eventual giants, but it represented part of the early-2010s wave of free-to-play military and naval online games that built dedicated followings around historical mechanised warfare. It predated the mainstream success of Wargaming's World of Warships, which would later dominate the online naval-combat space.
