About This Game

SiNG Party is a 2012 karaoke and music party game developed by FreeStyleGames and published by Nintendo as a launch title for the Wii U. Built around the console's distinctive two-screen setup, it makes novel use of the Wii U GamePad: the lead singer holds the GamePad, which displays lyrics and prompts and serves as the microphone-holding focal point, often facing the rest of the group, while the players on the television sing along, dance or play backup, encouraging a lively, performance-oriented party atmosphere. Bundled in some regions with a USB microphone, the game offers a setlist of popular licensed songs across genres and various party modes designed for groups, blending singing with light dancing and crowd participation. Aimed squarely at casual, social gatherings, it sought to showcase the Wii U's potential for asymmetric, living-room multiplayer. Critical reception was modest; reviewers found it a serviceable but unremarkable karaoke title with a reasonable song selection and a clever use of the GamePad, but limited depth compared with established music-game franchises. SiNG Party stands as one of the casual, family-and-party-oriented launch titles Nintendo used to demonstrate the Wii U's social possibilities, of interest mainly to groups seeking accessible karaoke entertainment. It was one of several casual launch titles Nintendo used to demonstrate the Wii U GamePad's social possibilities.
