Worms Revolution
Worms Revolution is a 2012 turn-based artillery strategy game developed and published by Team17, part of the long-running and beloved Worms series. Released for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it continues the franchise's signature formula of comedic combat between teams of cartoonish, anthropomorphic worms who take turns lobbing an outlandish arsenal of weapons, bazookas, grenades, the iconic exploding sheep, the Holy Hand Grenade and many more, at one another across destructible 2D battlefields. Worms Revolution notably brought the series into full 3D-rendered visuals while retaining its classic 2D gameplay, and introduced new elements including dynamic water physics and four distinct worm classes, Soldier, Scout, Heavy and Scientist, each with different attributes and abilities, adding fresh tactical wrinkles to the established formula. It also featured physics-based objects in the environment and a single-player campaign with humorous narration alongside its renowned local and online multiplayer. Well received, the game was praised for refreshing the venerable series with its new classes, physics and presentation while preserving the chaotic, funny, strategic charm that made Worms a multiplayer staple. POCG noted its intro video. Worms Revolution stands as a polished, modern entry in one of gaming's most enduring and good-humoured strategy franchises. It stands among the many entries that have kept the long-running Worms series a multiplayer staple for decades.
