One Final Fantasy XIV Era Ends, Another Begins
Square Enix is decommissioning the original Final Fantasy XIV with an in-game 'Seventh Umbral Era' finale, transitioning players to the rebuilt A Realm Reborn.
The original version of Final Fantasy XIV is being decommissioned to make way for the ground-up rebuild, A Realm Reborn. Square Enix is sending it off in style with the grand finale of the ‘Seventh Umbral Era,’ an in-game event meant to give players a smooth, story-driven transition to their new Eorzean homes. Character data carries over to the relaunch. It’s a rare thing to watch a studio formally end one version of a game to replace it with another.
