Here is the latest August 1998 note from the PC gaming front: Savage3D News.

S3 Incorporated now has announced it has entered volume production with Savage3D and was awarded top honors by Mercury Research for delivering the highest frames per second on real world game applications. Testing based on Incoming from Rage Software and Turok from Acclaim Entertainment showed that Savage3D delivers nearly 33 percent higher frame rates on Turok and nearly 22 percent higher frame rates on Incoming than its nearest competitor 3DFX Voodoo 2 and Voodoo Banshee.

In addition to measuring frame rate results, Mercury Research also tested Winbench performance and Savage3D grabbed second place honors by outperforming Voodoo 2 from 3Dfx, Revolution IV from Number Nine, i740 from Intel and MGA-G200 from Matrox.
