The important bit: HEAT.NET is promoting the most outrageous, out of control series of online events to commemorate the 1998 Holiday season. The five-week extravaganza bomb will drop for all members on December 7, 1998 and will run through the first week of January, 1999. Highlights include an extended events line-up, a new Degree Donation program and large prize packages including a gamer’s dream machine, one year free high-speed Internet access, a $500 shopping spree, millions of degrees and more.

It is not as fun as a new demo, but these moves decide what games actually get made, sold, patched, or buried. Ignore the suits and you miss half the story.
