Tread announced

The IMRlabs division of the In Medias Res Company has spent the last three months developing its cutting edge and intuitive new map editor, Tread, which is set to be released in the coming weeks. As part of Tread’s pre-release, IMRlabs has prepared a sneak preview version of Tread, which supports Quake and QuakeII. Final versions of Tread will also support HexenII and Half-Life, among other titles. In Medias Res has also launched its web site for Tread.

For January 1999, this is the business side of gaming doing what it always does: studios forming, publishers moving money around, lawsuits flying, and everyone promising the next big thing. Somewhere in that mess, players eventually get the games. Maybe.
