GDC Independent Games Festival announced

Miller Freeman, Inc. today announced that Gathering of Developers (g.o.d.) will co-present the first annual GDC Independent Games Festival. The Independent Games Festival is designed to promote interactive entertainment as an artform and provide a forum for independent game developers from around the world to show their work, receive recognition, and meet potential publishers.

For January 1999, this is the business side of gaming doing what it always does: studios forming, publishers moving money around, lawsuits flying, and everyone promising the next big thing. Somewhere in that mess, players eventually get the games. Maybe.
