Interactive Magic has begun distribution of the Company’s new iLZ Internet software as part of three PC CD-ROM titles published in late December. The iLZ software is designed to quickly connect customers to a stand alone Internet matching service where a community of regular players engage in real-time chat. Using iLZ, players can begin multiplayer games of any PC CD-ROM game or connect to iMagic Online, Interactive Magic’s pay-for-play Internet gaming service.
For January 1999, this is the business side of gaming doing what it always does: studios forming, publishers moving money around, lawsuits flying, and everyone promising the next big thing. Somewhere in that mess, players eventually get the games. Maybe.
