52X TrueX CD-ROM Drive lands in February 1999 as PC hardware makers keep pushing faster chips, cards, drivers, and gaming peripherals.

52X TrueX CD-ROM Drive has been announced, adding another target to a 1999 calendar already packed with more games and gear than anybody has time to play.

The names attached here include Kenwood Technologies, Kenwood 52, Zen Research's TrueX, Unlike, and Max CD-ROM. The hard numbers include Kenwood 52, 7800 KB, and August 19.

The hardware race is getting mean now. Every new board, driver, chip, and oddball peripheral is trying to be the thing that makes your rig feel less old by next week.
