Canopus stopping Production

March 14, 1999: Canopus has officially said that the Spectra 2500, Pure 3D and Pure 3D II line of graphics cards are no longer in production.

Canopus stopping Production hits the March 1999 news desk on March 14, 1999. Canopus has officially said that the Spectra 2500, Pure 3D and Pure 3D II line of graphics cards are no longer in production.

Due to the very short life cycles for graphics boards and the consolidation of the graphics chip and board industry, Canopus has decided to concentrate on their line of Digital Video Editing products. They regret any inconvenience this may cause you and they assure you that if you have purchased any graphics product from them, that they will continue to support you with technical support and the terms of our 3 year warranty. That is the PC hardware treadmill in full sprint: faster chips, cheaper boards, louder claims, and gamers trying to figure out what is worth the money.
