Psygnosis First DVD Game Lander

March 10, 1999: Psygnosis is driving another PC gaming technology milestone with Lander, the company's first DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) game.

Psygnosis First DVD Game Lander hits the March 1999 news desk on March 10, 1999. Psygnosis is driving another PC gaming technology milestone with Lander, the company's first DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) game.

Delivering MPEG 2 full-motion video sequences with Dolby Digital 5.1 channel music as well as in-game audio and interleaving sound effects to game players for the first time, Lander offers a truly interactive and theatrical experience of both sight and sound to the world of PC games. The game is planned for release end-March 1999 and will be highlighted at the Game Developer's Conference (March 15-18, 1999) in San Jose. It is not the loudest kind of gaming news, but the business and community machinery matters. Games do not appear out of thin air.
