Intel to Leave Stand-Alone Graphic Market is the update today, and it is worth keeping an eye on.

Intel has decided to leave the non-integrated 2D/3D graphic market, which they entered last year with the release of the somewhat disappointing i740 chipset.

Intel’s statement basically says that it cannot compete with companies solely dedicated to developing 2D/3D solutions like NVidia, 3dfx, S3, and Matrox. Intel says it will continue to work on integrated graphics solutions.

PC hardware is moving stupid fast right now, and this is one more part of that arms race.
