Athlon Scores Challanged by Benchmark Firm is the update today, and it is worth keeping an eye on.

FutureMark Corporation (developers of the 3DMark benchmark suite) alleged today that AMD violated their trademark by running the 3DMark suite on the Athlon with an AMD-customized DLL.

Though this doesn’t really effect scores provided by third party sites (who did not have access to AMD’s modified version) that confirm the Athlon’s performance advantage over the PIII, FutureMark calls the action “inappropriate”. For more information, read the TechWeb article.
