To mark the opening of the Linux World Conference is behind the announcement. To mark the opening of the Linux World Conference and Expo, 3dfx Interactive announced that it is broadening its efforts to bring high-performance, 3D graphics to Linux-based operating systems.
3dfx will incorporate the Direct Rendering Infrastructure (DRI) into its Linux software drivers, expected to be available later this year. The DRI was developed by Precision Insight with financial support from Red Hat, Inc. and Silicon Graphics, Inc., and is currently supported by a broad range of open source companies.
