Delta Force 2 to ship with 3D Support puts another piece of PC gear into the September hardware pile, and 1999 is not exactly short on that right now.
Some said it couldn’t be done, but PC game publisher NovaLogic’s upcoming Delta Force 2 brings traditional, 3-D accelerated graphics into its Voxel Space 32 engine with spectacular results. Like the original Delta Force, Delta Force 2 uses NovaLogic’s patented Voxel Space technology for highly detailed, smooth-rolling terrain and extreme viewing distances, but it will be the first Voxel Space game to support 3-D hardware. Voxel-based graphics are rendered very differently from the traditional polygon-based graphics used in most of today’s games, and since all 3-D accelerators are designed strictly to handle polygons, conventional wisdom has.
The hardware race is getting mean, and the upside is simple: gamers keep getting faster, stranger toys to bolt into their rigs.
