SpiritWars: The Age of Alchemy announced puts another piece of PC gear into the September hardware pile, and 1999 is not exactly short on that right now.

Kellogg Creek Software announced the release today of The Age of Alchemy, the first major expansion for SpiritWars, an online-only strategy game that blends the mystique of trading card games with the traditional strategy of a board game. With a theme of magical transformation and mutation, Kellogg Creek Software released the first set of new playing pieces from the new expansion set, which will be distributed in the online playing world over the next two months. According to designer Randy Chase, the expansion era will introduce over 125 new spirits into the game during the two-month period.

The hardware race is getting mean, and the upside is simple: gamers keep getting faster, stranger toys to bolt into their rigs.
