Sony bought the theatrical rights to Redneck Rampage gives players a reason to pay attention beyond the usual press-release noise.
According to Reuters, Sony has bought the theatrical rights to the CD-ROM video game Redneck Rampage as a potential comedy project for Private Parts director Betty Thomas. The game follows two Arkansas brothers’ extreme and comedic efforts to retrieve their prize-winning porker after it’s abducted by aliens. The picture won’t necessarily be as violent as the game itself, in which the characters wield shotguns and crowbars, according to Jenno Topping, Thomas’ partner at Tall Trees Prods. banner, which will develop the project.
Not a bad excuse to jump in, especially if you were already circling this one anyway.
