Free Pager from Rockstar Games

Publishers are throwing prizes, rebates and giveaways at players, because apparently just selling the game is not enough anymore.

Free Pager from Rockstar Games is today’s promo hook. Publishers are throwing prizes, rebates and giveaways at players, because apparently just selling the game is not enough anymore.

The useful part: Not only will consumers receive the alphanumeric pager, but they will also not be charged an activation fee when they sign up for a year of airtime service. The pagers will be branded with the Rockstar name and logo, and consumers will receive exclusive details of impending Rockstar game releases, cheats, and codes, as well as news of forthcoming Rockstar Events via their pager. The promotion begins with the release of the much-watched GTA2, the sequel to Rockstar’s 2.5 million copy selling Grand Theft Auto. File it under the usual 1999 PC pile: interesting, crowded, and probably fighting five other releases for attention.
