The useful part: The Final Fantasy series has become one of the most successful franchises within the video games industry. To date, the Final Fantasy series has sold in excess of 22 million units world-wide coupled with record breaking figures of pre-sell in Japan for the release of Final Fantasy VIII on the PlayStation. Mike McGarvey, Chief Operating Officer of Eidos says: “We are thrilled to further our relationship with Squaresoft and will continue the support through sales and marketing to make Final Fantasy VIII a big success.”. File it under the usual 1999 PC pile: interesting, crowded, and probably fighting five other releases for attention.
