3DO Ships Sammy Sosa Softball Slam

3DO has begun shipping Sammy Sosa Softball Slam for PC and PlayStation in North America. The company is calling it the first softball-themed game on those platforms, which is specific enough to be true and weird enough to remember.

3DO has begun shipping Sammy Sosa Softball Slam for PC and PlayStation in North America. The company is calling it the first softball-themed game on those platforms, which is specific enough to be true and weird enough to remember.

The game comes from the team behind High Heat Baseball, but this is not trying to be a spreadsheet sports sim. It goes for fast, high-scoring softball with single games, seasons, an eight-player tournament, Family Mode, a player editor, and male, female, or co-ed leagues.

On PC, the game supports Direct3D, AMD 3DNow!, and EAX. Larry “Monster Truck” Huffman handles commentary, which tells you exactly how subtle this thing is trying to be. Sometimes you need a deep sim. Sometimes you need a softball game with a huge gut guy in the lineup.
