Electronic Arts has started shipping Superbike 2000 for PC and PlayStation, putting the SBK Superbike World Championship license back on the track. This is the first PlayStation release for the EA Sports Superbike line.
The PC version leans into the sim side with Internet play, factory bikes from Aprilia, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, and 13 international tracks from the 1999 season. The PlayStation version aims for a more immediate race setup with split-screen play, simulation and arcade-style options, and an easier front end.
Eric and Ben Bostrom are featured on the PC box and served as consultants. That gives EA the marketing hook, but the real test is whether the physics and track feel can keep up when the throttle is pinned.
