About This Hardware
The Analogue Pocket is a handheld FPGA-based video game console designed and manufactured by Analogue. Released in 2021, it plays Nintendo Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges via a dedicated cartridge slot. Through community-developed openFPGA cores, the Pocket can run a wide variety of other retro consoles and computers, including the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, and arcade boards. Its 1600×1440 pixel display offers a sharp 10x integer scale of Game Boy resolutions, and its FPGA architecture aims to provide cycle-accurate, zero-lag gameplay. The Pocket also supports save states, screen filters, and other modern conveniences through firmware updates and core development.
