About This Hardware

The Anbernic RG 55G1 is an upcoming Android-powered retro handheld, first shown in detail in a June 2026 hands-on video. It carries a Nintendo Switch Lite-inspired horizontal form factor and a full-face 2.5D glass front that curves at the edges to meet the backshell, a more premium look than Anbernic's typical flat-fronted devices. The control layout uses 3D Hall effect joysticks, Hall effect triggers, dual-injection molded face buttons, and a separate D-pad, and the device is shown in Indigo, Retro Grey, and Black colorways.

As of late June 2026, Anbernic has revealed the design but almost none of the internals. There is no confirmed chipset, RAM figure, battery capacity, or even a final screen size, and no price or pre-order date has been announced. Where it lands in the crowded budget Android handheld market will depend entirely on those still-missing specifications. This Lab entry will be updated as Anbernic publishes the full spec sheet and pricing.
