About This Hardware
MiSTer is an open-source project that uses field-programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware to accurately recreate classic video game consoles, computers, and arcade platforms. The core system is based on the Terasic DE10-Nano development board, augmented with add-on boards for memory, I/O, and USB hub. Unlike software emulators, MiSTer replicates hardware behavior at a low level, resulting in highly accurate, low-latency gaming experiences. It supports a vast library of cores for systems including the NES, SNES, Genesis, PlayStation, and many more. The project is maintained by a community of developers led by Alexey 'Sorgelig' Melnikov and has become a cornerstone of the retro gaming preservation scene.
